DPOY (The Other Race)

Austin Burton of Dime Magazine wrote a compelling story on March, 11 2009. It evolved around the defensive player of the year. The candidates are; Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade and LaBron James. He makes a good case of each but “the other race…” could very well come down to a two man race. LaBron is sixth in steals (1.7spg) and 1.2 blocks per game. Wade ranks second in the league with 2.2 steals per game and 20th in blocks at 1.4 per game, which is the highest amongst guards. I not only don’t believe that Labron won’t win MVP or DPOY, he can’t win both trophies. He has good numbers but a certain 6’4” guard numbers are off the charts. At the present, in the MVP race, they are neck and neck. The NBA and the media are trying their best to promote LBJ (the king) for MVP but Wade has exceeded all expectations and deserves the prize. My theory along with (loganlight) is that Labron will win the MVP and Wade will receive the consolation prize with DPOY.
